Abstract: Numerous fatāwā have been issued by scholars concerning the ruling of zakāh on deferred debts and the period that qualifies as deferred. This paper aims to explore the stance of the fuqahāʾ of the Ḥanafī school of thought on this topic and provide the rationale behind their position. Additionally, practical considerations are included.
